Chitrak Liquid Extract supplies flavonoid glycosides with phenolic acids and root polysaccharides from Plumbago indica root. Plumbagin is a relatively lipophilic naphthoquinone and is poorlyrecovered by aqueous extraction. Plumbago indica and Plumbago zeylanica are both traded as chitrak and carry different plumbagin levels. Plumbagin is a skin and mucous-membrane irritant and is contraindicated in pregnancy; confirm the level. Chitrak Root Water-Soluble Extract — known as Lal Chitrak (Lalcitra) in Hindi and Chethikoduveli / Koduveli in Malayalam (Plumbago indica).

FAQs
What are the primary formulation applications of Chitrak Root?
Most buyers use it in digestive Ayurvedic liquid preparations and classical formulations. As with any new water-soluble extract, pilot-test in your specific base before committing to a full production run.
Which carrier should I choose — water, propylene glycol or glycerin?
Water alone suits most aqueous formulations. Propylene glycol improves cold-stability and solvency in preserved systems; glycerin gives a milder, skin-friendlier carrier for leave-on formulations. PG and glycerin variants are offered at 500 g and 1 Kg, with PG also available at 5 Kg.
