Indian Valerian Liquid Extract retains valepotriates with maaliol and valerenic acid from Valeriana wallichii root. Valeriana wallichii is assayed on valepotriates where the European Valeriana officinalis is assayed on valerenic acid — the two species are not interchangeable on specification. Valepotriates are unstable to heat and moisture; store cool and assay per lot. Valerian Root Water-Soluble Extract — known as Tagar in Hindi and Tagaramool in Marathi (Valeriana wallichii).
